Humans have the longest life span of most creatures that inhabit the earth, but we still want more. We want to live forever, but we know we cannot, at least not in the body we reside in now.   So desirous are we for long life, we are willing to try anything that might extend life.  But are there really things that have been proven by our Scientists that might work to hasten well being and give us a bit more time?     Ever since the human genome was identified and work with genes have become commonplace among scientific technicians, we have a new hope in the area of haulting progressive destructive aging.   

First, did you know that they have identified an aging gene?  Yes they have!  First studies were conducted on yeast and then on worms. They identified the specific gene that controlled life span. They were able to make both live longer by manipulating that specific gene. Now they look forward to studies on humans. And that's wonderful. But we aren't quite there yet. There is no magic pill to take as yet.   Spend some time looking into calorie restriction and longevity....you will be fascinated by the studies now being done.  Longevity studies are being done by all the top research facilities and answers are coming soon. But what can we do for ourselves while we wait?  

Besides doing what we all know we should...begin to expand your mind. You must first love yourself. Without self love you cannot have the drive and determination to protect life. You can do nothing for others if you have not made your body optimal for living life. Do take care of your mind as well. You all know what the research has told us to do to care for our bodies.  We will not go in to that here. Just suffice it to say you must learn on your own the best and most helpful ways to nourish your body. Eat Well, Drink Water, Sleep enough, Exercise, Care for others as yourself and limit or exclude vices

1. Think of others before yourself. Give thought to how your actions will affect others.

2. Make sure you are always breathing deeply and long.

3. Watch your speech. Do not gossip or talk ill of others or yourself.

4. Watch and control what kind of thoughts you are having. Positive, ambitious, self loathing, angry, selfish, inclusive etc.

5. Control your actions and make sure most of them are positive, selfless, inclusive and aware.

6. Be free of religious, political, sexual, race, nationalistic, patriotic, biases leading to limited separatist thoughts or actions.

7. Cultivate habits which bring about health in mind and body. Sleep early, eat early, don’t over talk, fast time to time and sit in silence for some time each day.

8. Be aware of what you put importance or effort into as this will bring you much pain or joy in the near and far future. Our karmic energy and destiny will be affected by this.

9. Control your senses by avoiding any excess, so they don’t end up controlling you. This will help control your nervous system and your entire health.

10. Cultivate a healthy practice of meditation, reading and other spiritual endeavors to bring about a higher consciousness towards all living beings. This will help each person to know their purpose in this life time.

Before doing anything you will need to know what your intentions are and why you are motivated to do something. Knowing this together with the actions you decide to take will either bring you a long life or not. Life is a choice.
