MIND BODY SPIRIT AND A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO WELLNESS IN ELDERS
Have you ever noticed that ALTERNATIVE medical wellness practitioners are constantly minimized and mocked when their ideas are first presented for health, comfort and healing?
Have you thought much about this? And have you then noticed that a certain amount of time will pass and all of a sudden those same ideas will be totally accepted by traditional health care?
What does this tell you?
As Elders we must begin to rationalize this situation. We are at the last half or quarter of our life journey and time is of the essence.
Do not blindly trust traditional medicine, unless your provider is a wellness thinker. Wellness Practitioners are open minded medical doctors and technicians who believe in treating the mind, body and spirit. I personally have a M.D. at the present time who is so kindly, so attentive, so open minded and so well trained that she practices Internal Medicine with constant questioning and constant research. She asks ME questions about what I think might help ME. Strive to find for yourself, this kind of Physician.
WELL-NESS (noun) Definition: 1. The quality or state of being healthy in body and mind, esp. as the result of deliberate effort.
2. An approach to healthcare that emphasizes preventing illness and promoting life, as opposed to
emphasizing treating illness.
If you will try what is suggested, You will begin to feel you are in control and you will be empowered. Without self love and respect you cannot begin the process of healing. We as elders must be wise and proud of our aging bodies. Be proud to be an Elder, and do not let society minimize the value of Elder Life. We are wisened women and men. We Honor our place in Life this time around. We can accept nothing less for ourselves. Never stop learning. Never stop loving.
